Using FamilySearch®
FamilySearch Internet Service® provides family researchers and genealogists with research tools and guidance. Visitors to the Web site can enter information about their ancestors and find out if FamilySearch has additional information on these individuals. The search engine indexes names in the following databases:

  •
  • Census Records
  •
  • The International Genealogical Index® (IGI)
  •
  • The Pedigree Resource File®
  •
  • US Social Security Death Index
  •
  • Vital Records Index®
  •
  • Family History Web Sites
  •      The online version of the Family History Library Catalog® leads people to microfilms and books that may have data researchers can use to extend or enhance their family trees.   Microfilms and microfiche can generally be borrowed through local Family History Centers®.
The FamilySearch site also provides a mechanism for researcher to collaborate with others and share family history information via e-mail.
Order/Download Products lists other resources available from the Church and tells researchers how to obtain them.   Resources include publications, software, free downloads, and compact discs.
