Patrons who want to use the Internet/word processing computers must use their own cards.

The Art Gallery/Meeting Room will be available for use by individuals or groups for art displays or meetings (must be open to the public and not regularly scheduled, and not interfere with the regular use of the library because of noise or activity). Commercial use, fundraising, or direct sales of items will not be allowed except for programs or sales sponsored by the library.

BEHAVIOR IN THE LIBRARY

Smoking and Deportment

Smoking is not permitted in the library.

So that all patrons may enjoy full use of the library, patrons are asked to observe the reasonable quiet which is necessary for reading and study.

All tables and chairs must be left in place.

The following will not be tolerated in the library at any time:

Loitering or aimless wandering around

Card games and similar activities

Use of radios or musical instruments

Parents may not leave children under the age of nine unattended in the library. Parents are responsible for their child's behavior while in the library. Disruptive children age nine or over will be asked to leave after receiving one warning.

Telephone and Paging

Library telephones are for staff use only. Library staff will not page library patrons to the telephone. In the event of an emergency staff members may take appropriate actions to notify library patrons of the emergency. Staff members may take telephone messages for people who may be in the library. Patrons will be responsible for collecting their messages.

Cell phone ringers must be turned off (or put on vibrate) in the library. Cell phones may only be used when necessary to use a library service, such as when necessary to assist with connection to wireless Internet Service or when needed to gather information to complete information forms on the Internet. Cell phone users may not disturb other patrons.

BUILDING FACILITY

Building Maintenance

The library director is responsible for maintaining the library. The director will regularly monitor the physical condition of the building and see that standard maintenance is done. Large projects will be submitted to the board for discussion and approval. The library contracts with the Wells Group of Salina to maintain the environmental systems. This contract may be reviewed at the beginning of each year.

Insurance

The City of Great Bend has insurance coverage on all buildings. The library will participate and pay for the coverage on the library building. The library will maintain contents and special collections insurance coverage for materials and equipment in the library. The treasurer of the library board and the library director shall be bonded. The library shall pay the costs of the bonds.

Furniture and Fixtures

The display cases and eight-foot screens are considered library furnishings and are not to be loaned.
