At a meeting of the Alpha Club on January 8, 1901, a committee was appointed to seek the opinion of the businessmen of Lebanon about starting a library.
The application for the charter was signed by thirteen members of the Alpha Club on May 1, 1901.
Money to maintain and serve this enterprise was raised by food sales, waffle suppers, bazaars, and other community projects. Many books were donated. At the spring election of 1925 the Lebanon citizens voted to accept the library and voted a tax for its support. At this time the library was moved to its present location.
Mrs. Ula Locke served as librarian for fifty years. Her devotion to the library is appreciated by the Lebanon community.
The present library board of seven members meet once a month and with the assistance of the library, strive to meet the reading needs of the community.
