In 1900 the city of Delphos organized a library. Mrs. John Richards, Mrs. Will Richard, and Mrs. Duncan were instrumental in the fonnation of the library, which was located at the southeast comer of the town square. Grace Bedell Billings was the first librarian.
In the depression years a library was located upstairs from the City Auditorium. It was sponsored by Civic Organizations, with special assistance from the Lion's Club, who donated metal shelving and finances.
The Delphos Women's Club cataloged and placed books, which were donated by individuals and groups. The Women's Club also earned money for the library.
The Delphos Public Library receives books from the CKLS Rotating Book Van. Each year the library also purchases new books. Volunteer helpers present Story Hours and the Summer Library Programs.
The stage of the City Auditorium has been enclosed to house the current collection of the library.
