It’s time to Spark a Reaction and get your brainwaves flowing toward some great ideas for your Summer Library Program. Plan to attend and leave with fun, easy, practical program ideas to mesmerize young readers.
Lunch will be provided at no charge. Please indicate dietary restrictions on your registration form. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

9:30 a.m. Fizz, Boom, READ/Spark A Reaction – Kathy Barco

Presenter, Kathy Barco, will go beyond the manual and share practical, creative ideas and activities to engage your school-age readers this summer.

Barco is recently retired from the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Library where she held the positions of Children’s Librarian and Literacy Coordinator.  She was also the Youth Services Coordinator at the New Mexico State Library for five years. Barco is the author of several books on librarianship.  She has been a presenter at local, statewide, regional and library conferences and received 2006 New Mexico Library Association’s Leadership Award. Barco has conducted summer reading workshops in New Mexico and Colorado.

1:45 p.m. Break-out Session of Programming Ideas

Librarians will divide into groups by topic to share ideas. A recorder will be selected within each group. Each participant will receive the notes from all break-out sessions following the workshop.
