CKLS Employment: School Library Consultant

The Central Kansas Library System (Great Bend) seeks a half-time School Library Consultant. 

The Central Kansas Library System is seeking an energetic individual with school library administration and K-12 library instruction skills. The applicant must have an MLS from an ALA-accredited school, Kansas teaching certificate with school media endorsement and a minimum of 8 years of school library experience. The position will open in January 2015. It is a half-time position with very flexible hours, days and seasons. The salary range is $20,800 - $27,040/year. After six months of successful work there is a 5% salary increase. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Provide library para/aid in-services
Provide direct consulting to school librarians
Provide CE that is directly related to basic librarianship
Consulting to professional school librarians, library aids and paras as needed
Consulting visits to every school district member in CKLS 16 counties, yearly

Over the years, Chris Rippel has collected research about what affects circulation. During this workshop, Chris will present evidence about circulation policies, displays, shelving, library layouts, etc. Participants will discuss their own experiences. As small groups, we will propose and explore ideas for increasing circulation.
