This workshop is offered annually so CKLS libraries have an opportunity to create signs for their library. If you have attended previous sign workshops, you are still welcome to attend. Library signage is much like doing dishes or laundry – the job is never done!

Registration deadline is March 31, 2014. Because CKLS will purchase and provide supplies and seating is limited, you must register in advance for this workshop.

Signage is an important part of communication and is essential for promoting materials, equipment, safety and accessibility to library patrons.  It is important to have an attractive, professional looking, effective sign system throughout the library.

Join Gail Santy and Diedre Mapes to learn the basics of Microsoft Publisher. After we cover the basics, participants will make a sign template for their library. You will then be able to enter your information, print, and prepare the signs your library needs. CKLS provides the equipment and all supplies, so you will leave with workshop with everything you need to hang up your beautiful new signs at your library.

This knowledge is transferable! You can use this information to start making snazzy flyers to announce library events and programs.

This hands-on workshop requires you to do some homework before you arrive.

Use the Library Signage Homework document to make an assessment of your current signage and to consider your library signage needs.

Use the Library Signage Guidelines document to understand different kinds of signs, guidelines and best practices.

FlyerTutor has excellent step-by-step tutorials to learn how to use Microsoft Publisher to make signs and posters.
